Day 15 - July 12 - Drumheller to Youngstown  142km

I'm out of camp at 5am with Dave from Ireland. He's the only other person in this group who likes to get up super early to avoid the afternoon heat and wind. It's a bit chilly at that hour so I bring along an extra layer. There is a big hill out of Drumheller to begin with, then the rest of the day is flat and boring on Route 9 with a strong headwind. Once you've seen one wheat field you've seen them all.

We stop at a restaurant in Hanna for breakfast and get some strange looks from the regulars. They ask Dave all about Ireland and about what made him decide to do this. He is raising money for Children's Hospice and a lot of people are counting on him to finish.

We are treated very well in Youngstown from the moment we arrive. There is a table of girls selling lemonade with a Tour du Canada sign, the school is left open so we can make use of the showers and the town puts on a potluck feast for 25. On top of that, we get free Internet access at the library and we get to sleep inside on the floor of the Community Centre.

I'm glad I got an early start today; I'd like to make it a habit.
